when the hills are green

The trails the surround my home weave their way through the Los Padres National Forest. I should put quotation marks around the word forest. For the most of the year, the forest is dry and brown and void of the kinds of trees most people think of when they think of a forest. This photo was taken after a rare few weeks of consistent rain here in Southern California. This is as green as it gets. There is a rugged beauty to the landscape, even when it’s brown, but when the hills are green, it’s magical.
