It’s easy to get lost in the view from the edge of Leavitt Meadows, through the trees, looking toward Forsythe Peak. It is so majestic from this vantage point that it’s hard to believe there are 461 peaks in California alone that are higher than this 10,823 ft. beauty.
I’ve stared at this peak from various positions in this meadow and on hikes to Roosevelt Lake and Lane Lake for four years without knowing its name. If you’re going to spend hours staring at something this magnificent, you really should know its name. Thanks, Jim, for your help yesterday.

It is a gift each year to share this spot on a map with you and your boys. This annual gathering of men and boys will continue on for another 40 years with the next generation leading them into the beauty of the eastern slope of the Sierras. Until next time…
It is indeed a gift, Jim. Thank you for sharing it with my family.
