She  walked across the street as she had done one hundred times before, distracted, simply muddling through her day. She didn’t expect to find a dead body on the corner in front of her. Nobody expects a dead body on the corner of a busy Miami street. Especially when that busy Miami, Florida street is actually in Huntington Beach, California. It’s amazing what you can see on any given day when your backyard is also the backyard of Hollywood TV and movie studios.

I had driven down to the beach to spend the day working out of the Zeek Interactive offices and attend the OC WordPress MeetUp group that I helped found 8 years ago. This was once a weekly journey for me, but I had not done this in almost two years. I left at at 4:30 am to miss traffice and arrived on Main Street to find it unusually busy for pre-sunrise and blocked off, filled with camera crew, and vehicles with “Miami Police” emblazoned on the side. There was a crime scene being shot for a TV show I had never seen or heard of, Rosewood. I took some video of it. It was fun to watch. And from some perspectives, the scene appeared real. This is the land of make believe, however. Nothing is really as it appears.
