I’m just playing around with software, exploring how it interacts with different photo types. The software is called “Circular Studio” and is meant to be used with 360 images taken by cameras like the Ricoh Theta S or the Samsung Gear 360. But you plug any photo into it. The results, of course, are mixed. I took this photo of an Abbot Kinney painting while I was at Venice Beach during the Sand Fire. I was pretty impressed with how it handled the tall image, but it’s not why I’m posting it. While staring at it, I couldn’t help but think about how much we distort our history, making past leaders seem larger than life, focusing on their triumphs, minimizing their flaws and failings. I had to wonder how this new world of social media and 24/7 news coverage we live in will change that for our present day leaders.
