On what started out as a cold, rainy day in Lisbon, Portugal, we decided to take the train to Estoril. Estoril is a part of the “Portuguese Riviera,” a beautiful beach resort to the West of Lisbon. We stopped there and played a bit in the sand and on the rocks below Forte da Cruz, then walked into town to see the casino. If it had been a warmer day, we may have simply stayed at the beach. And since casinos really aren’t’ our thing, we quickly decided to head further West and on to the town of Cascais. I think I can speak for the entire family when I say we all wish we had never gotten off of the train in Estoril and simply spent more time in the amazing little town of Cascais. It was alive with activity and colorful, with the most ornate streets.

I did not bring my Sony a7r II on the train with us this day. So this shot above is from my iPhone using the Halide app to capture in RAW. I edited this later in Lightroom on the desktop. I must say, it doesn’t really do the vista justice, but this is a memory I will never forget. I could have stared at this scene for hours. I miss Portugal.
