It’s not atypical for things to be a bit “hectic” around the Turner house. Last night was no exception. Right about the time the sun was going to set, the time I had hoped to be in a location to shoot what I knew was going to be an amazing sunset, my daughter was still getting ready for track practice. The color was not quite at peak and I knew if I could get her in the car, we could get to a spot with a decent view on the way to practice.

She didn’t want to get to practice too early, which meant she was not particularly motivated to move fast. So I waited, but the color didn’t. As I sat in the driver’s seat, I watched the color begin to fade and change. And there was no sense rushing her. I’ve learned that doesn’t do much except create drama. By the time we got to the spot, less than five minutes later, the blast of orange all over the sky had shifted to a coating of red on the edges of the clouds. And although I was anxious to get to this spot and this moment, it was nice to pause for a second in the middle of the hectic and just enjoy the sunset with my daughter.

That’s better than catching the sunset at peak color alone.  🙂
