The Elevador de Santa Justa in Lisbon,┬áPortugal used to provide the valuable service of eliminating the steep slog up Carmo Hill from the Baixa district. Today, however, it is mostly a tourist attraction. It’s a working piece of wrought-iron neo-gothic art, really.
