A few weeks ago I received the best compliment on my photography skills I will likely ever be given. My wife, this woman pictured here, sent a text message asking me if I would take some photos of her. I was shocked.
I know it doesn’t sound like a significant compliment. And of course, I take photos of my wife all the time. But here’s the thing – she’s not a fan of my pointing this camera in her face. Often it feels like she goes out of her way to contort that lovely face in a way that will ensure nobody ever sees them. On top of that, she enjoys calling me her “stalker.” I can’t argue with that since I continually have to sneak up on her to get a decent photo. 🙂
Then that text came. When I got her message – a few days after she had seen the photos I took of “Elizabeth” and her family – it was personally validating. Her opinion matters to me. And so today, the 22nd anniversary of our wedding, I present a few of the photos I captured and edited earlier this week. They were taken the day before she turned 48.
On this day 22 years ago, I remember thinking, “this is the most beautiful woman in the world.” Today I know she is more beautiful at 48 than she was at 26.
Rocky, thank you for asking me to take these photos. It means the world to me. And thank you for making these last 22 years the best years of my life. I love you.
