sunrise panorama

When you live in a place where clouds are not a common happening, picking where to go to shoot the sunrise or sunset is a subtle combination of experience and luck. On this morning, I got lucky.

Here in Santa Clarita, California where I live, my “hit rate” is higher than when I travel. I’m thankful for tools like The Photographer’s Ephemeris and it’s latest inclusion of SkyFire. This morning when I woke up, I looked out my bathroom window and saw a hint of clouds just above the mountains behind my house. I checked the app and there was a coin flip of a chance for a colorful sunrise. That’s enough for me. Thankfully, it was a good flip. I’ll share that photo later.
