Manly Beach Sunrise

I’ve been revisiting old photos recently, pulling them into Lightroom, looking at them through the eye of my memory and, quite frankly, wondering what I might have done differently with a different camera and a tripod.

I would relive this morning for a lot of reasons, but one of them would be to take these shots with my Sony mirrorless in RAW and not with the Panasonic DMC-ZS30 that I was carrying with me on this trip to Manly Beach, NSW, Australia. It’s really the only thing I’d change, if I could. And yet, as I look at this photo I’m reminded of the reason why I bought the Sony a6000 instead of the a7 when I decided to start taking my photography hobby more seriously. It’s not about the equipment.

And looking back at my first shot with the better equipment, an early morning on September 12, 2015, I’m further reminded… it’s not about the equipment. The desire to simply shoot and learn is still the same. For that I’m thankful.
