Secret Cove

We stopped by Secret Cove on the way to Leavitt Meadows on the morning of the only day and night we were going to be able to spend at the Men & Boys camping trip this year. Driving from Sacramento, I followed a friend’s advice and decided to take a short side trip after breakfast in Lake Tahoe.

Secret Cove

We were not here more than 45 minutes, including the walk to and from this amazing spot. It was not nearly enough time to truly soak it all in. Funny Man, my 15-year-old son was not a fan of the idea of stopping, even for a short time. He was eager to get to camping. He loves our spot next to the Walker River. He loves the swimming hole, and the camaraderie, and gazing at the stars at night.

Despite that, this spot surprised him. It surprised me. Although it’s less than a mile from a highway, it feels like another world. It comes by its name honestly.

And I’m going to have to plan a longer visit.
