vasquez rocks twilight

All signs pointed to a beautiful sunrise. So I hopped in my truck and headed out to find the perfect spot just after 5:30am. When I arrived, only a smattering of stars could be seen in the Western sky over the outer band of outcroppings at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area. And I was the only person in the park at this time of morning. Perfect.

The star of the show at Vasquez Rocks are the iconic, alien-looking peaks in the center of the park. But there is a texture to the hills that surround them that attracts my eye. This is particularly true as the sun begins to leak above the larger San Gabriel mountains to the East.

The sunrise turned out to be beautiful. I’ll share those photos on another day, and hopefully be able to tell a story that is unfolding. Life is good.
