Along with the rest of my family, I have spent a tremendous amount of time at track meets over the last seven years. In that time my perspective on the sport has changed dramatically. My wife, who is a USATF Level 2 Coach, is by her own admission, “a track geek.” Most track coaches, like Coach Keith Stenhouse, shown here watching the 100M heats at the USATF Region 15 Junior Olympic Championships, are track geeks. They are addicted to the sport, the training techniques, the purity of the competition, the finality of the results. Standing on the sidelines listening to them breathe their passion, soaking up their jargon, has been as instrumental in my falling in love with Track & Field as watching my children excel.  It was inevitable that I would begin to see the sport through their eyes. I’m thankful for all of it.
