This used to be a common occurrence on our block. Parents would gather in the front yards and watch the plethora of kids available on our cul-de-sac play in the streets. Our front yard is a high perch from which to yell at cars moving too fast up the street, but more often than not, we all just set up chairs on the asphalt. We were a human blockade. On this evening there was a celebration of Noah’s departure for Boise State and an excuse to hang out once more. I miss those simple days watching the children play in the streets. I really do.
