It turns out a lot can happen in a four-second exposure. After the family fireworks ended, I decided to capture the stars above our family farm in Grafton, West Virginia. We do our fireworks on the day of the family reunion. The cars are parked on both sides of the hollow and everyone finds their place in the middle to watch the show. I didn’t expect this, though I should have. During the long exposure used to capture the stars, the last of the cars were leaving. During this shot, one of the cars stopped so folks could say their final goodbyes and the red lights lit up the trees.
