Originally known as The Michigan Avenue Bridge, The DuSable Bridge was the first double deck bascule bridge in the world. “The bridge ushered in a real estate boom on North Michigan Avenue in 1920,” writes Peter V. Bella.   “Two notable architecturally significant buildings were erected within five years. The Wrigley Building started construction in 1920, opening in 1921. The clock was referred to as Chicago’s “Big Ben”, (The north tower of the Wrigley Building was completed in 1924.) The Tribune Tower was built between 1923-25.”
