Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park Sunrise

Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park is my go-to location for sunrise landscapes. If The Photographer’s Ephemeris indicates there’s a good chance of Skyfire, I’m probably here. It’s just a 20-minute drive from my house but feels like a trip back in time. Except for perhaps the Haskell Canyon Open Space, which is basically 1.5 miles from my front door, this is probably my most photographed location. So, it’s no surprise it is the vista I chose for my first 2021 sunrise. This view never gets old for me. I hope it never does.

FYI: The Skyfire App is available only inside The Photographer’s Ephemeris. I swear by this app. I’ve been using since it was first released and it’s usually pretty accurate with its predictions about where and when epic light will occur.
