Fun On The Rocks

I decided I needed a bit of fun on the rocks in Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park. Since the Track And Field events at the Tokyo Olympics began, I’ve been getting up between 3 am and 4:30 am every morning to catch the action live. That means I’ve also missed some of my usual morning activities, including some early morning photography. But I couldn’t miss watching the USA Women’s 4x400M Dream Team final, so I got a late start getting out to the rocks.

Twilight was in full swing by the time I got to the entrance, shown above. I’m normally inside the park for at least 30 minutes by this time. So, I’ve never seen this light on the shrubs before. We’ll just call that an unexpected bonus. I saw the park in a whole new light as a result of my late start. And I got to hang out at one of my favorite locations for longer than normal (last two photos below). I shut the camera off, laid back on the rock, and just soaked in the moment. It was exactly the kind of fun I needed.
