This Flame Skimmer dragonfly, also known as the Firecracker Skimmer, has been frequenting our backyard for a couple of weeks. For some reason, it has a particular fondness for this one sprinkler head. It keeps returning to it repeatedly. I took a photograph of it last week using the new Adobe Project Indigo iPhone app, and the 10x zoom was quite impressive, but it didn’t capture the detail or look I was hoping for. So when this beautiful creature came back over the weekend, it was time to grab a real camera. I used my Sigma 60-600mm DG DN OS Sports lens for these shots. Some of them were taken using its 200mm macro capabilities. Some of them were shot at full 600mm. Enjoy.
