The focal point of Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park are the “hogback” ridge rock formations of steeply inclined strata. As a result, these rock formations are also the focal point of most photos of the area. Rightfully so. The photos on this page, the top from December 26, 2016, the final shot of my morning, is looking back over the park from the road where I normally park. The bottom photo is from January 8, 2017, looking North and away from the rocks at sunrise.
