I think the rumor that Robert P. McCulloch bought the London Bridge thinking it was the more recognizable Tower Bridge is probably true. The chairman of McCulloch Oil Corporation who founded Lake Havasu City flatly denies this, of course. It’s still a beautiful bridge and since it was purchased to be a tourist attraction, it appears to have worked.
