I was excited when I saw the photos that Jimmy Su took of my sons at the 2019 Arcadia Invitational. I was filming their races from the roof of the media a room at the track, so the images he shot were special to see. Jimmy is one of my favorite sport photographers and a true gift to the Southern California track community.
When I saw the series of shots he took of Isaiah handing off to Kodi Oshiro, I knew it would take some work, but I was certain I could make a decent composite. The image above is the final result. Each photo was cropped to the runners, so the only way to merge the images was to create the perspective angle you see above. In the background there are some legs missing bodies, and vice versa, but my son was thrilled with the results.
When I sent it to Jimmy to take a look before posting here, his response was, “I can only imagine how much work that took to create that. Looks amazing.” Thanks, Jimmy. And thank you for the wonderful photos and for your love of track!
