The fourth of our six children had his senior picture session yesterday. Zachariah, the youngest of our four sons, is headed into his senior year on the heels of a year he’d probably like to do-over. The shooting at Saugus High School marred the first semester and COVID-19 destroyed his entire junior Track & Field outdoor season. He never got the chance to improve upon the 400M school record he set as a sophomore, and his only junior year competition was indoors with his podium finish at The Simplot Games.
He took it all in stride. As he held up the 2021 sign at the end of the photo session, a burst of joy shot across his face. It was spontaneous and pure. Here’s to a Senior year that will bring even more of that pure joy.
