Today’s hike was just under 16-miles long and the scene above was about 600m from the halfway point where I turned around and headed home. This branch of the trail leads deeper into the Los Padres National Forest and winds its way into San Francisquito Canyon. I’ve hiked for hundreds of hours on these trails. Over the course of a 16-mile trek, I may see perhaps one or two other people, usually on mountain bikes. Most of the time it’s just me and my shadow. [ location ]
