After weeks of cloudless skies, followed by a week of smoke-obscured sunrises, the sky was kind this morning. I left the house earlier than normal with an unusual hiking companion, my tripod. The Photographer’s Ephemeris hinted this might be a beautiful sunrise, so I wanted to have more control over ISO and exposure than I can get when shooting handheld, as I normally do on long hikes. I was able to get almost 6 miles into the hike before this scene emerged. It was glorious. [ location ]
