Back in another era when travel was a thing, I rented a Sony 85mm f1.4 G Master lens to take shots at NAR’s iOi Summit in Seattle. That specific lens is widely regarded as the best portrait lens on the market. It is, however, also an $1800 lens at the time of this writing. So when I began to see reviews for the Samyang 85mm f1.4 being compared favorably and costing only $599, I put it on my wishlist. The image above is the very first image captured with this new lens, just an impromptu capture in our kitchen. I can tell I am going to absolutely love shooting with this thing. More to come! 🙂
