Here’s one way to make sure everyone is smiling in a family photo — take everyone’s photo individually, pick one of each of them where they are smiling, and then composite them all together into one massively wide family photo. It’s not actually as simple as that may sound, I’ll admit. Even though I tried to control the light in every possible way, different shirt colors, body sizes, skin tones all have an impact on the individual images. So there is quite a bit of editing required. That said, the end result is all I really cared about. Now I can’t wait to do the version of this shot where nobody is actually looking at the camera and the one where we are all making silly faces. Stay tuned. 🙂
