Watching the planes land at LAX is still mesmerizing to me. When I used to take my kids to the airport to pick up their mother from one of her many trips to Kenya, we’d park near the In-N-Out on Sepulveda. Sometimes we’d get a burger and fries. But every time we would sit in the grass near the runway to watch the planes land. They knew their mother would be on one of them. Their excitement to see her mixed joyously with the sound and sight of the planes landing so close. You can feel the sound as they pass by. It is a memory I cherish. On Monday I picked up friends from the airport and left early to spend a few minutes with my camera in that same spot. I’m so glad I did.
