I had no idea that it would be the flamingos that captured my attention at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. I’ve been wanting to take my camera to a zoo for a very long time. It was 2013 the last time we visited a zoo. So yesterday my daughter Sam joined me and we had a blast. I really thought it would be the gorillas or elephants that would be my photographic favorites. I was wrong. It was the Flamingos. I suppose I shouldn’t be so surprised.
Something different happens when your eye looks through a camera lens. Colors become more vibrant, objects take on new perspectives, and time seems to stand still. It’s like the camera lens is some kind of magical portal that can take you to another world. At least it’s that way for me.
