I was excited to have an opportunity to photograph the bird’s nest. It was built in a planter hanging from my mother’s back porch. Nature finds a way to reclaim what is rightfully hers. In West Virginia, she encroaches on just about everything. It’s a part of what makes the state so beautiful. So, being careful not to disturb the fragile ecosystem, I quietly climbed onto a nearby table and shot with a longer lens than I probably needed. These scenes are special in my book.
