The sunset happens

Sometimes, the sunset happens, and you’re not in the place you wanted to be but in the place you’re meant to be. This evening, we were meant to be at a new wine bar in Palermo, Hollywood, called Esbornia. It had only been open a few weeks, and the owner was so excited to be open. And to have us there. It was delightful. We asked her what the restaurant name meant since it didn’t translate from Spanish to English in either of my translation apps. She said it was slang for “drunk.” it comes from the Italian word “sbornia,” which means hangover.

There is a massive Italian influence in Buenos Aires. There was a massive wave of Italian immigration to the city between 1880 and 1920. And this was the place we were supposed to be for this sunset, not on the rooftop of our AirBnB. Thankfully, I had my iPhone. 🙂
