The VILTROX 28mm f4.5 Pancake Lens has turned my Sony A1 into a compact travel camera. This lens costs just $99 and adds nothing to the camera’s body dimensions. This means I can put the camera in the neoprene cover I use to protect the camera body and throw it in my backpack or carry it in my jacket pocket. Having it with me more often means that I get better shots of those moments when I’m not in the “right place” for a sunset, like above. The iPhone 16 Pro wouldn’t have done that sunset justice.
And since it is with me more often, random moments in life are being captured with a different level of quality. Combine this with Nik 7 Silver Efex or DxO FilmPack 7, and it almost feels like I’m carrying a film camera. For example, the sunset just below was shot out of the passenger window of our car, and then a Kodak film emulation was applied.
