This was an attempt to stretch my skills a bit. I decided to hike a trail in Santa Clarita that I don’t normally hike, so, from the beginning, it was not a shot I’d typically take. The sun was “too bright” and there were no clouds. But I set up the tripod anyway and began experimenting. I spent some time in Photoshop using levels masks to get the contracts right, but I think it was worth the effort.
