Sometimes the stars align and all is right with the world. Two days ago my 10-year-old daughter said to me, “Dad, before I go to West Virginia to visit Grandma, can you and I go on a hike together, just you and me. I want to do something with you that you love before I leave.” It melted me.
Last night I said, “Hey, let’s go on a sunset hike.” You never know exactly what you’re going to get, but I had a feeling it might be one of those truly amazing sunsets. It was. Combine the magic of sharing this moment with my daughter at the top of a climb and… all is right with the world. Even if just for a moment.
