You never know what nature is going to give as a reward for setting your alarm for 4:40am to make sure you’re in position for the sunrise. On this morning, from the rocks at Manly Beach, looking out over Shelley Beach, nature gave me an approaching storm. I was mesmerized by the light fighting its way through the breaks in the clouds. Moments later, a purple glow emerged to the left, surrounding the point. This is not my typical sunrise photo. Then again, it was not a typical sunrise.
