These are not the best photos I’ve ever taken, not even close. Taken through a scratched airplane window flying several hundred miles an hour over the Canadian Rockies, the color is a bit off and the shots are slightly blurry. But they represent one of the coolest things I’ve seen from a plane. The first edge of the mountains peaked over the clouds to catch the rays of the setting sun. Then, the thick layer of clouds that dominated the sky from Seattle to Calgary, pressed up against the mountains and simply stopped, leaving the valleys beo
