Less than three miles from this lonely road is one of the most heavily traveled highways in the world, the 5 North out of Los Angeles. And on this day, the Friday of a long Memorial Day weekend, it was busier than usual. But here on Lake Hughes Road, just a few miles North and East of Castaic Lake, the road is virtually empty. I had driven the 16 miles from my house to this spot to try and get what I had hoped would be an epic sunset photo. Epic never materialized, as you can see below, so I turned my camera to the road and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, a car drove by and I was able to capture this single shot.
