It was exciting to watch St. Mary’s Berkeley sophomore Malcolm Clemens take the title in the boys long jump at the CIF State Outdoor Championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, California. His final attempt, though wind-aided, was national best this year 25-1 and as you can see from the board he left in the composite of the jump above, which went 24-6.75, he probably didn’t need any wind assistance to go past 25 feet. I was at the other end of the stadium when he hit his final winning jump, but that put me in the perfect position to see the excitement on his face as the distance was presented. Congrats, Malcolm.
