A city has an entirely different feel when you’re below its surface. It’s why I love taking the subway in any city, but I really love it in a foreign country. It was certainly true here in Santiago, Chile. Our kids have fond memories of riding the London Underground to and from the airport, bags in tow. I’m thankful my children seem to love the experience as much as I do.
“People who want to understand democracy should spend less time in the library with Aristotle and more time on the buses and in the subway.”
