I’m pretty sure this grass type is Purple Fountain Grass, though I could be wrong. It is past its reported blooming time, but we don’t really get winter here, so it may be a little confused. This fountain grass grows like crazy here in Southern California, but it’s not a native plant. It actually a highly drought-tolerant invasive species of fountain grass brought over from East Africa, tropical Africa, the Middle East, or south-western Asia. I pass by these beautiful plant almost everywhere I hike. It’s one of my favorite plants, though I rarely point my camera at it. I made an exception on this hike.
