Sahlman And Young

One of the highlights of the 2021 Arcadia Invitational was the 3200M battle between Newbury Park teammates Sahlman and Young. We witnessed one of the best high school distance races ever run in the United States. I want to congratulate Rich Gonzalez and the entire Arcadia Invitational team on the amazing effort put forth to make this race came to fruition.

Colin Sahlman (8:43.42) and Lex Young (8:43.71) led fifteen California runners under the 9-minute mark in this race. Four of those fifteen were underclassmen at Newbury Park High School! Those numbers are simply unprecedented. My congratulations go out to all of the runners, but I want to specifically thank Colin Sahlman and Lex Young. Thank you for giving those of us who were lucky enough to witness it in person a memory we may never forget.
