This is Canyon High School’s Austin Hernandez illuminated by a sunset at the California State Track & Field Championships. I told Austin after I took these shots that this was probably going to be a good one. I was right. The timing of the sunset with his second jump was just about perfect. Austin jumped 21′ 3 ½“, just 3 inches shy of making it into Saturday’s Boys Long Jump Finals.
