One Jump - Makayla Jackson - Minnesota State

It just takes one jump and a little bit of confidence. In the finals of the Womens Collegiate Long Jump at the Mt. SAC Relays, Makayla Jackson moved from 7th to her final medal position of 3rd on this jump of 21′ 7.5″. I was taking photos of a 200M race when I overheard the end of a conversation in the stands behind me between Makayla and her jumps coach, Brian Sebera.

I won’t share the details, but Makayla was beating herself up a bit and doubted whether she made the finals. She did. And as she climbed back onto the track to go join the rest of the finals competitors, we exchanged a few words. She said to me, “I need to stop doubting myself.” Given how she competed against some of the top talents in the country yesterday, I’m going to have to agree. Makayla, it’s time to stop doubting yourself. 🙂
