It was hot on Friday at the 2022 Mt. SAC Cross Country Invite, and this course is, frankly, brutal. I had never been to a meet on this course, so rather than try to figure out how to get to lots of different spots, I decided to find a place where no other photographers were set up. I landed roughly 1.3 miles into the 3-mile course at a location they call “the switchbacks.” I was not prepared for how massive a Cross Country meet this was. It was the 74th running of this invitational, and 9,875 runners showed up! Wow.
