Collin Joyce Triple Jump Composite

This triple jump composite of Bishop Alemany’s Collin Joyce took about 90 minutes to edit. The hardest events to create these composites for are the triple jump and pole vault. There is so much human overlap in both events because of the changes in speed from start to finish. Long jump is simplest, and that is doubly true if it’s a composite of an elite long jumper.

In the long jump, the spacing of the human at each burst of the camera is just about perfect. But here, in the triple jump, the spacing diminishes as speed drops during each phase. You can see that above in this 41′ 6″ leap at the CA Winter Championship at Arcadia High School. As a result, the editing is far more difficult. In this case, I think the result is worth the effort, but it does delay my editing all of the other photos. I promise I’ll get to those soon. 🙂
