Breelyn Newsome is an athlete. I hope she knows this. I hope she truly embraces it. This portrait was shot as she looked up at the massive scoreboard at Hayward Field. She was still on the track following her Emerging Elite 100M prelim race at the 2024 Nike Outdoor Nationals. She did not perform as well as she might have hoped, and you can see the disappointment on her face and in her eyes.
Bree is a delightful young woman with a bright future on and off the track. It has been a joy to photograph her this year and to spend time with her and her family. Congratulations on a truly wonderful track and field season, Bree.
