
I tried not to edit the photos I took on my iPhone 17 Pro while we were on vacation in Hawaii in April. This sunset photo made the cut. I’m calling it a leftover sunset because it’s been sitting in a folder waiting for me to post since April 4. As I look at it now, I understand why I kept it: the silhouettes of the boats on the water, the airplane overhead. Rocky pointed the airplane out to me as I was snapping images.
In that moment, I couldn’t help but wonder if the people on the plane felt the way I did as they looked out their window onto the beach and people below. Every time we leave Hawaii, I feel exactly the same way. I don’t actually want to leave. Moments like this are why.
