Haskell Canyon Revisited

I miss capturing this view. The photo above was taken less than two years ago, but this view does not exist anymore.

Today, the hill on the right side of the canyon has been leveled and a small number of new homes sit in various stages of completion on top. This spot, near a gate leading into the canyon, was once my “go to” spot when time was short in the mornings. I’m sure the sunrises from here are still beautiful, but I can’t bring myself to go back to this spot overlooking the Haskell Canyon Open Space. I fear my memories of this place will always overshadow its present reality.

And that makes me sad. It’s certainly not the emotion I’m looking for as I watch the sun wake up in Santa Clarita.
