As I looked around the area surrounding the Hotel Sorella, the only place that looked like it might provide a decent vantage point for what was shaping up to be an excellent sunrise was the top of a parking garage. I walked around the top in the pre-dawn hours looking for a decent shot, drawing the attention of more than one security guard in the process.

The best vantage points required me to climb on top of places I probably shouldn’t have been climbing on. This probably explains the attention of the guards. The shot above was taken from the top of a power box. But it was not the first place I climbed on in my attempt to find a view.

As you can see, the accessible rooftops didn’t provide any better view of the sunrise than I was finding on the parking garage. The colors were wonderful regardless. Houston, thanks for the great sunrise.
