Last night, Saugus High School defeated Crescenta Valley 38-29 in the first round of the CIF Southern Section football playoffs. Since it was an away game for Saugus, we didn’t make it to sleep until well after midnight. Late nights and early mornings don’t mix well.

So I didn’t set my alarm for the usual 4:55 am. I woke up around 5:45 and looked out the bathroom window to see a red glow hanging on the still dark clouds. I quickly gathered my stuff and headed for the hill above Saugus High School. It’s one of my favorite spots to shoot the sunrise in Santa Clarita, and after a football victory, a sunrise with the new football field in view seemed appropriate.

Wow. What a beautiful sunrise we were gifted this morning. And I may be a bit more than a little biased, but I’d like to think this was nature’s victory celebration. Go, Centurions!
